History & Vision
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
We want everyÂthing we do
to point to Jesus.
EarÂly Years
Athey Creek ChrisÂtÂian FelÂlowÂship startÂed in 1996 when Brett Meador moved to PortÂland with his famÂiÂly. After 12 years on staff at AppleÂgate ChrisÂtÂian FelÂlowÂship, he sensed God callÂing him to start a church. The felÂlowÂship began with a small group of believÂers who met at Athey Creek MidÂdle School to study through the Bible, verse-by-verse. We conÂtinÂued to study through the Word in this way and the church conÂtinÂued to grow. When it became obviÂous that we had outÂgrown the midÂdle school, the Lord, in His perÂfect timÂing, proÂvidÂed a wareÂhouse buildÂing in Wilsonville. A short five years latÂer, we moved into a buildÂing of our own in West Linn.
Vision
From the start, the vision for ACCF has been clear and focused: we want everyÂthing we do to point to Jesus. For us, it means that we keep things simÂple. Acts 2:42 outÂlines the modÂel of the earÂly church, “And they conÂtinÂued steadÂfastÂly in the aposÂtles’ docÂtrine and felÂlowÂship, and in breakÂing of bread, and in prayers.” We take this verse to heart and make sure that we conÂform to that patÂtern in the varÂiÂous ways we minÂisÂter. We view the church as a refuge, a hosÂpiÂtal of sorts, where those who are lost, hurtÂing or worn out feel welÂcome. Our hope is that we all find the healÂing and refreshÂment we need as we stick to the earÂly church example.
